扑克 Finding a Good Seat at the Poker Table(找到一个好座位)

Do you think finding a good seat is important when playing poker?  If you don’t think so, think again.  When you play poker, especially Limit and No-Limit poker, seat selection is critical to your success.

Many of you are thinking that it really doesn’t matter where you sit at the poker table.

The play goes clockwise right to left and everyone at the poker table gets the same positional advantage eventually.  While this is true, your initial seat selection can be the determining factor of whether you win or lose at the poker table.  Poker, particularly No-Limit Texas Holdem and Limit Texas Holdem is a game all about position.  If you get to act after your opponent, you have a huge edge.

When you play Texas Holdem poker you want to have the best possible poker seat at the table.  Here is what you need to look for.  If you have scouted out the table in advance, or if you know some of the players, here is what you want.  You want the loose poker players to your right and the tighter ones to your left.  Here is why.

If you have the loose players on your right then you always get to act after they do except when you are under the gun.  You can react to what they have done.  Tighter players, who don’t use position as often, will be to your left, and you don’t have to worry about them as much.  Let me repeat this again for emphasis because it is critical to your success at the poker table.

You want the loose and sometimes weak poker players on your right and the tighter ones on your left.  I can’t tell you how many times I have lost at the poker table because a player that continually bet and called everything was sitting to my left.  What this does is put me in a pickle.  If I have a marginal hand I don’t just get to limp in because the loose player re-raises me out of the pot and I lose my original bet.  If, however, that person is sitting to my right I only call his big bet if I have the cards.  I don’t lose all of these bets trying to see a flop.  And the bigger advantage for me is that when I get a good hand this player has already called or raised and I can very often get heads up against him for a lot of his stack.

If he is sitting to my left the advantage goes away.  It is all about position in Texas Holdem.  Tight players to my left make it easier to see what they will do.  They aren’t going to be re-raising without the cards, so I know what they will do before they act. The bottom line on Texas Holdem poker, whether it is No-Limit or Limit, is that you want the maniac or loose player on your right, not on your left.  The tight players are fine on your left.  Keep this in mind and you will definitely make more money.
