扑克 Control your Emotions, Control Your Poker Tilt

Emotion might be a good thing in most sports but it is not when playing poker. The players that get emotional in online poker are headed for serious trouble.

Texas Holdem poker is a thinking man’s game and anyone who plays Holdem poker not in control of emotions will soon be without chips.

Emotion makes that very difficult because emotion interferes with thinking and that results in players going on tilt. You have to begin in poker by reading your pocket hand, analyzing your position, evaluating your opponent’s position and playing styles, keep track of the chips stacks, read the flop analyze the bets, look for possible poker tells, etc.  You have to do all of this and more and without making any mistakes.  You then have to also consider how your opponents will react to what you do.

All of this requires a level head and the last thing in the world that you need is to have emotion guide your decision making process. The problems occur when you have a bad beat on the last poker hand, a bad run of draws and pocket hands, opponents who played a hand with stupidity but won anyway, etc. This all can lead to going on poker tilt.  Texas Holdem poker players need to have very short memories and focus on what is happening now and that means eliminating emotion.

One of the dangers of online poker that the best players have had to overcome is the shear ease of how it is played.  A couple of wild clicks of the keyboard can get you into serious trouble and, by its very nature, online Texas Holdem poker can invite more wild play than in-person poker.

The best online players simply turn other player’s emotions into their advantage as they let their opponents go on tilt.  You will find that tight play often works even better online that it does in person.  The best online poker players realize that some players are likely to go on tilt and lose emotional control, so they take advantage of those players. To be one of the best when playing poker either online or in person, simply focus on your reads, your knowledge of your opponent’s playing styles, the draws and the proper bets and odds.  As you do this, remember that it requires a clear head and emotion can not be part of the equation.

Remember that you need to be in control and disciplined every time you play.  Make it a point to avoid emotional swings when it comes to playing poker and you will be much better prepared to make a profit, both online and in-person because you won’t go on tilt.
