扑克 Playing Loose Low Limit Texas Holdem

A lot of today’s poker players that enjoy Texas Holdem are choosing low limit poker games as their starting place.  A lot of these online poker players are inexperienced and most all of them play a loose low limit style more than they should.

Usually the higher limit of the table, the higher the skill level.

Which is a good reason why you usually find weaker players at the lower limit tables. This does not mean, however, that all the players are weak, just more of them.  This could be for a variety of reasons.  The player could be a new player with very little experience, a player that just wants action, a player that is just following the trends of people playing more poker, or someone that is just not a very good poker player.

Remember that not everyone is weak playing holdem poker at these tables.  There will be some good players that just like the lower limits.  Your focus at these loose tables should be to concentrate on those players that are weak and inexperienced.  And no, it is not hard to tell who the weak players at the poker table are.  Most of the time weak and loose players will make moves that in the long run just don’t add up.

Those are the types of players that you will defeat in the long run. So, how can we identify a loose table and how can we adjust out play accordingly?  The first tip for playing at a loose table is not to bluff very often.  At these loose tables everyone wants in the hand and way too many inexperienced players stay in until the end of the hand.

Bluffs rarely work at loose tables so leave them out. The second tip is not to slow play your hands.  Remember that everyone wants to play.  Slow playing is not going to help you very much since everyone wants to be in the hand anyway.  Be aggressive and get more money in the pot with your strong hands.  A lot of people are going to call you anyway, so raise the pots with your strong cards.

The third tip is to understand that you are going to need stronger poker hands to win a showdown.  So many players will want to stay in the hand and look for draws that you will probably need more straights, flushes, etc, than you would normally need.  The more opponents in the pot against you, the more chances there are for you to face a bad beat.  If you have numerous players remaining in the hand that means that you will need a better hand at the river to win.

If you only have a few players remaining in the hand then your cards might not need to be as strong. The bottom line at low limit loose tables is to realize that your strategy has to change a little bit.  You probably have to open up your game slightly, realize that you need better hands, and don’t get as fancy with your play.  Remember that strategies like slow plays and bluffs just don’t work as well at loose tables because your opponent stays until the river more often, regardless of what you do.
